Family Friday Nights 

 ...where the Youth Lead Shabbat!

 

 
 

Come experience Shabbat in a relaxed, youth-centered atmosphere that's fun (and educational) for the whole family.  Your children will take center stage as they learn and lead services, prepare Shabbat foods, light candles, and make Kiddush.  This will be a monthly program from 5:30-7pm.

Get comfortable!  
Come with the kids—all are welcome, no membership required.  We’re all family.

Feed your soul.
Children will learn about Shabbat through captivating stories and hands-on activities.  The kids
take center stage as they help lead the Friday night services. 
 
Shabbat feast
Enjoy a delicious, kid-friendly meal sure to please all palates—ages 2 to 200.  Some dishes will be prepped by our budding chefs—your children!

Enjoy! 
Stay and schmooze with other parents or hustle on out with the glow of Shabbat burning bright.

September 9th,  5:30pm:
  Create: Challah 1, 2, 3, 4 – The Dough, The Braiding, The Baking…and The Eating!
  Learn:   The How, Why, and When of Saying Amen During Prayers
  Eat:      Chicken & Veggie Stir Fry with Fried Rice 

   
 

November 18th, 5:30pm:
  Create: Edible Centerpieces - Fruit Skewers Dipped in Chocolate
  Learn:   Shabbat Dinner – A Step by Step from A to Z with a Walkthrough of the Birkat 
              Hamazon (Grace After Meals)
  Eat:      Italian Meatballs and Spaghetti

   
 

January 6th, 5:30pm:
  Create: Setting the Table Relay
  Learn:   The Story Behind the Shema and 5 Tips to Make it Perfect Every Time
  Eat:      Wrap Party with Chicken, Grilled Veggies, and Hummus 

   
 

February 24th 5:00pm *Note Time Change*
  Create: Make Your Own Fruity Smoothie
  Learn:   The Codes of the Lecha Dodi Shabbat Evening Prayer…and Other Secrets of the 
              Evening Service
  Eat:      Teriyaki Chicken, Roasted Potatoes, and Fresh Salad

   
 

April 20th, 5:30pm:
  Create: Matzah Ball Making 101
  Learn:   Amida – The Special Steps to Honor G-d (And Why Isn’t Anyone Talking?)
  Eat:      Meat Tacos with All the Fixings

   
 

May 18th  5:30pm
  Create: Grape Juice/Wine Press Workshop
  Learn:   Kiddush Prayer Workshop – Learn the Ins and Outs of the Cup, How to Hold It, 
              and More
  Eat:      BBQ Night with Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, and Roasted Corn

   
 

*All meals will include The Shul's signature Matzah Ball Soup, side dishes, and delicious desserts.

Family Friday Nights is held at The Shul in Bayside.  (8825 N. Lake Drive)
