2011-2012 Staff Bios
Rabbi Avremi Schapiro is a graduate of the Rabbinical College of America and is returning for his 4th year as the Director of the Milwaukee Community Hebrew School.
Since moving to Milwaukee in 2006, he has been working as the Executive Director of the Youth Division for Lubavitch of Wisconsin. Some additional programs under his direction include Camp Gan Israel and the Mitzvah Corps.
Rabbi Avremi's passion for teaching, and his enthusiasm for creating new and fun ways to reach out to all Jews, are just part of what makes him a great director for the MCHS.
In addition to serving as Director for MCHS, Rabbi Avremi will be teaching Torah High during the 2011-2012 school year.
Natalie grew up in Glendale, WI and currently lives on Milwuakee's East Side. She graduated from UWM in Winter of 2008 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Currently in her 8th year of teaching at Jewish Beginnings Preschool, Natalie is eager to continue working with Jewish children to grow in their knowledge, and love of Judaism.
When she is not teaching, Natalie enjoys dancing, writing, and spending time with her friends.
Natalie will be teaching K5 during the 2011-2012 school year.
Baila was raised in Skokie, IL. After high school she completing two years in Israel and then returned to Skokie where she taught for two years in the Chabad preschool and elementary schools. On Sunday she would go up to Gurnee and spend her mornings in the 4-5th Grade Hebrew School Classroom exploring the curriculum in a hands on way.
After she got married and Baila moved to New York where she would regularly sub in different Sunday
schools. Having just moved to Milwaukee with her husband, she looks forward to getting to know what Milwaukee has to offer!
Baila will be teaching 1st and 2nd grade during the 2011-2012 school year.
Tuba hails from Winnipeg, Canada and is joining us for her second year in Milwaukee. She attended Bais Chana in Tzfas, Israel where she received training as a teacher. Since completing her training she taught both in Israel and Milwaukee. In addition to her formal teaching experience, she has spent many summers as a counselor at different camps, and has a lot of experience doing private tutoring.
In her free time Tuba is learning how to play Maj and she loves to go camping!
Tuba will be teaching 3rd grade during the 2011-2012 school year.
Leah is a long time resident of Milwaukee and will be returning for her 10th year as a teacher at the Milwaukee Community Hebrew School. In addition to teach Hebrew School Leah taught at Jewish Beginnings for over 25 years. In her free time, Leah gives women’s classes and enjoys spending time with her children
and grandchildren.
As always, Leah is excited to kick-off the school year and explore the world yidishkit with her students.
Leah will be teaching 4th grade during the 2011-2012 school year.

Hinda Rivka is joining us from Winnipeg, Canada and is here for her first year in Milwaukee. She attended Bais Chana Teaching Seminary in Tzfas, Israel.
After completing her teaching certification she taught at many Hebrew schools, was a youth director, and served as head counselor for a number of summers at Camp Gan Israel in Toronto. Currently, she works at the Shul in Bayside as an Assistant for the Jewish Youth Foundation.
In addition to her passion for teaching, Hinda Rivka enjoys exploring nature and the outdoors.
Hinda Rivka will be teaching middle school girls during the 2011-2012 school year.
Rabbi Levi Emmer moved to Milwaukee 2 years ago and will be joining us this year as a full time teacher at the Milwaukee Community Hebrew School.
Rabbi Emmer received his Rabbinical Ordination from from the Rabbinical College of Melbourne, Australia. After completing his degree, he went on to work as a Rabbi in Miami, New Haven, and now in Milwaukee.
During his spare time Rabbi Emmer enjoys playing the piano and spending time with his wife and children.
Rabbi Emmer will be teaching 5th grade boys during the 2011-2012 school year.
Rabbi Yossi Hecht is joining us this year from California. Prior to arriving in Milwaukee he studied in Yeshiva both in California and and Russia. During Yeshiva he spent his summer teaching at various camps around the United States. Currently Rabbi Hecht is a teacher at Hillel Academy.
In his free time, Rabbi Hecht enjoys spending time with his wife and children and exploring Milwaukee!
Rabbi Hecht will be teaching 6th and 7th grade boys during the 2011-2012 school year.
Jacob grew up right here in Glendale, WI. He graduated from Nicolet High School and then went on to earn his degree in Consumer Science from UW-Madison. After college he left Wisconsin and spent the next two years in Israel learning at the Mayanot Yeshivah.
Over a year ago he returned to Wisconsin. He currently works as a Kosher supervisor and cook at Cafe O in Madison. In his spare time he is working on creating a web site that he hopes will expand Torah Education for this generation through Web-Based Multimedia (sefferelad.typepad.com).
Returning for his 2nd year at MCHS, Jacob brings with him a unique blend of academic and philosophic Torah knowledge.
Jacob will be teaching Torah High during the 2011-2012 school year.

Anna, a Junior at Whitefish Bay High School this upcoming fall, will be assisting in the Hebrew room.
For the past three years Anna has helped out and taught at different Hebrew Schools in Milwaukee as well as tutoring math and English for the past two years at Whitefish Bay Middle School.
In her spare time Anna loves to do art, play percussion in the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, and write. In fact, this upcoming year Anna will be a proud Editor-In-Chief of her High School's newspaper The Tower Times. She is so thrilled for the chance to get to know everyone involved with Aleph Champ and is so excited for the upcoming year!
